We like to give our dog, Maddie, as much nutritional variety as possible. We try new foods, bones, and supplements on a regular basis. It is certainly important to do so in order to ensure that she is getting all the proper nutrients that she needs to be healthy and happy. Sometimes, though, life can be hectic and we don’t have to time, resources, or energy to research new ingredients or put together extravagant meals.
When this occurs, we rely on one faithful recipe to help get use through the week and give us peace of mind that Maddie is taken care of. It can certainly be tweaked and adjusted as needed, but that doesn’t require a whole love of cognitive action. It is a well-balanced meal that we can prep using any one of our three meal prepping strategies.
Here it is, The Maddie Special:
- Grass-fed Ground Beef (5 oz)
- Beef Heart (2 oz)
- Beef Liver (.5oz)
- Hard Boiled Eggs (1 egg)
***Above ingredients are for each meal and are for our 50 pound dog. Portions and ratios should be adjusted depending on the size of your canine.
- Frozen Berries (1 cup)
- Frozen Spinach (1 cup)
- Phytoplankton (5 servings)
- Water (varies depending on desired consistency)
***The above mixture makes enough for the week. All you have to do is blend all the ingredients together and place in a mason jar or other storage container. We usually give her about 1/3 cup of the smoothie mixture with each meal.
- Raw Carrots (2 per day)
***We peel the carrots and give them to Maddie whole most of the time. Although sometimes we cut them up and use them as training treats and other times we just toss it in with her meal.
That’s it! All these ingredients are super easy to find, create a complete and balanced meal, and Maddie absolutely loves them! Knowing that your dog is properly taken care of is a great advantage when facing a tough day or week and is one less thing that you have to worry about.
